As I was born in a family of luxury shoemakers, I was tempted to make my own climbing shoes as soon as I started rock climbing.
That was in 1991. I had it in mind to design high performance climbing footwear that would respect the shape of the foot.
The idea that sensation improves performance has gained ground and seems to be unanimously adopted by rock climbers.
So, it is essential for a climbing shoe designer to be attentive to climbers' needs and sensations as well as to be on the lookout for innovative ideas and practice.
This is a principle I strongly believe in and I keep to, to be recognized as a climbing shoe designer and maker*.
